Welcome

Boy Scout Troop 228 is located in Berea, OH and charted by the United Methodist Church of Berea. We are in the Quarrylands District of the Greater Cleveland Council. Troop meetings are on Sunday nights from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the United Methodist Church at 170 Seminary Street.

There are monthly camping trips. Recent destinations have been Camp Miakonda, Top O’Ledges, South Chagrin, Mohican Wilderness Campground, Beaumont Scout Reservation, Manatoc Scout Reservation, South Mastick, the Meadows and a farm near Mohicanville.

We go to Seven Ranges Scout Reservation for summer camp. This is a week long trip begining on a Sunday and ending on a Saturday, usually the fourth week in June.

The Troop has sent groups of older Scouts to Tinnerman Wilderness Canoe Base, National Scout Jamboree, and Adventure West Virginia. A trip to the Florida Sea Base is planned for 2009 and the National Scout Jamboree in 2010.

2010 Medical forms

EVERYONE needs a new medical form for 2010.

Medical forms are due June 6, 2010.

A copy of the Jamboree medical form is fine.

Pancake Breakfast June 6

Troop 228 will be holding a Pancake Breakfast for the members of the Berea United Methodist Church on June 6, 2010, in Fellowship Hall. This event is an excellent opportunity for the troop to show its appreciation for our chartering organization, and it builds our relationship with the members of the UMC.

Scouts are being requested to volunteer as servers/busboys/greeters for the event. Scouts should arrive at 8:00 AM for set-up, and should be out no later than 1:00 PM after clean-up. Class A uniforms are to be worn.

Fundraiser: Printer Cartridges

The Troop is collecting empty printer cartridges and sending them to a recycler. Mr. Anthony will accept them and ship them in when enough are collected. If parents can set aside empty inkjet cartridges from work and home, we will put them to good use.

Memorial Day Parade May 31

Troop 228 was recently asked to march in the Memorial Day parade this year, Monday May 31st. We will be meeting behind the Berea library between 10:00 and 10:15 AM, parade starts at 10:30. Please wear your Class A uniform along with your sash. Mr. Dragony is running this activity, if you have any questions please contact him. If you want to bring some hard candy to toss into the crowd, that would great.
